About Wrestling
The wrestling season starts soon after the football season each year. The season starts back in November and ends in February with the District and State Championships.
If you are interested in joining Mustang Wrestling for the 2010-2011 season, please contact Coach Hazlewood. You can also join wrestling after football season is over. Wrestling is always looking for new athletes to join the team!

The Mustang Wrestling parent meeting
is usually held towards the end of October/beginning of November.

Coach Hazlewood has been at J.J. Pearce High School since 2001. He grew up in western Oklahoma, where he started wrestling when he was in Kindergarten. He wrestled all the way through high school earning championships at different events at the various levels of competition. He gained a large amount of experience in the wrestling world, both on and off the mat. While attending Oklahoma State University, he also was a student-coach with the local schools. His first head coaching position was at Richardson High School for in 1998 year. He was the wrestling coach at Clearwater High School for 1999-2000, before coming back to Texas to coach at Pearce. |
Coach Furgeson

Mark Furgeson, in addition to joining the Wrestling team Coach Furgeson coaches the Varsity Football team defensive line as well as the freshman team. Coach Furgeson is in his 7th year of coaching and his first year at J. J. Pearce. As a wrestler in both high school and college, Coach Furgeson brings both experience and his passion for the sport to Mustang Wrestling. He is a graduate of Grove City College with a Bachelors of Science in Financial Management and a Masters in Arts of Teaching from Carson Newman College. Mark and his wife Meghan have two daughters, Madison (2) and Kate (8 months). |
